RINGBELL ROPESIGHT TUTOR
The main features of this program.
- Designed to assist a learner to gain ropesight by allowing them to stand behind the selected bell.
- An animated screen showing bellringers and their ropes.
- Selectable guides.
- Follow any bell.
- Called Changes, Plain Hunt, Plain Bob and Grandsire can be studied.
- Uses the sound of church bells.
MAIN SCREEN

The screen above is a typical example, here is the start of Plain Hunt. The bells are in rounds as the conductor calls the start, the user is standing behind the treble and the markers show it leading following the tenor. The program's features are explained below. There is built in Help, which can be obtained by pressing the F1 button whilst using the program.
- Your bell is in the front of the circle, facing outwards so you can see the hand movement. A selectable guide shows the place you should be counting and the direction you are moving - UP, DOWN or MAKE PLACE.
- A Selectable, follow this marker, is the yellow arrow pointing to the appropriate bell.
- The conductor's instructions appear at the top of the screen
- At the side of the screen are the main controls.
- A quick help notice board at the top.
- The 'Method' drop down box allows a variety of called changes and methods to be rung.
- 'Your Bell' may be any of those in the circle.
- The Optional guides 'Sound On', 'Place Indicator' and 'Follow Indicator' may be selected before pressing the Start button.
- 'Slow Approach' slows the animation down as you come to the handstroke or backstroke pull.
- Just for fun an 'Interactive' mode allows the user to ring the front bell. This is of little practical help in learning to ring church bells, and may prove more difficult that the real thing.
- The Options button allows the selection of bell sounds and open handstroke or cartwheel ringing.
- The Start / Stop button, allows the changes to be stopped at any time.
- Once installed, the program appears on Window's Start Button Menu.
- Should you tire of it, an uninstaller is provided to remove all trace of the program from you hard disk.
Notes for XP and Vista users
This version of the Ropesight Tutor supports all 32 bit Windows versions 95/98/2000/ME/XP/Vista. If you have problems running earlier versions before Ver 1.07 July 2007, then please install this version. The help files used in my earlier Versions were not compatible with Vista. Please uninstall any older version of this program before installing the file below.
Version 1.07
Version 1.07 suffered from a fault that affect ringing on 8 bells. This problem either caused 6 bells to be displayed or a blank screen. Please download this Version 1.08 (Sept 11, 2007) to correct the problem.

In the panel below this text. Click on the section of the panel containing the underlined file name. This is an installer for this application.

Once fully downloaded, install the Bellringing Program. You don't need to be on-line. Find the file you downloaded with Windows Explorer, double click the Icon which looks like this. The installer will instruct you what to do. When completed, you may delete the downloaded file or copy it to another computer. |
